Sustainability

MPA Lime members aim to produce and supply lime products in the most sustainable ways possible. The capital intensive nature of lime production and the long term investments in quarries and large scale manufacturing installations, together with the desire for business longevity means that sustainability is at the core of the lime businesses.

Monitoring of sustainability metrics through annual data collection and reporting provides evidence of the progress made within the sustainability commitment of the MPA Lime membership.

Positive Performance Statements

  • More than 30% decrease in NOx emissions from high calcium lime manufacture since 2011
  • Emissions of NOx from Dolime production reduced by more than half since 2011
  • Emissions of dust from high calcium lime production reduced by more than half since 2011
  • Reduction of more than 15% of dust emissions from manufacfture of dolime since 2022
  • More than ten fold reduction in emissions of SO2 from high calcium lime production since 2011
  • More than 20 fold reduction in emissions of SO2 from dolime production since 2011.
